Vision

Whitsand Bay Fort is an exclusive development on a cliff-top site so enviable that Britain built a fortification there to stop others getting their hands on it. The military wouldn’t part with Whitsand Bay Fort until the end of World War Two, but the moment the last troops left, the site became a honeypot for visitors and has been ever since, which is hardly surprising as it offers not just panoramic views, but an awe-inspiring 360-degree vista, with endless sea stretching out before you, accompanied by the picturesque Cornish countryside and the stunning Tamar Valley.

Complemented by the indoor heated swimming pool and stylish restaurant, the lodges have been a popular destination for years. Whitsand Bay Fort is undergoing a remarkable transformation under new ownership and has a fresh vision with expertise, it's quickly becoming THE place to be in Cornwall.

A luxury spa is on its way, offering rejuvenating treatments and the opportunity to thoroughly embrace ‘wellness’. The restaurant is undergoing an exciting renovation to enjoy awesome carveries and live music where you can indulge in excellent cuisine set in superb surroundings.

The historic fort itself is being brought back to life with the respect and care a scheduled ancient monument deserves and the landscape is constantly being maintained.

Imagine yourself living here in one of the most spectacular settings in the whole of Cornwall in a luxury holiday home surrounded by nature, beaches, wildlife and others who enjoy the finest things in life.

what's nearby

Location

Unique, breathtaking and exclusive, Whitsand Bay Fort sits in an utterly enviable location.

COTEHELE HOUSE — 21 MILES

To the North

Endless acres of prime Cornish countryside stretch away, punctuated by the odd farmhouse and pretty villages with friendly Inns and stunning views.

Why not visit Antony House, a superb National Trust property literally 6 miles away, or venture a little further up the Tamar estuary to Cotehele, another National Trust property with a Tudor heritage, an historic quay, and a working mill?

To the East

More countryside with the village of Maker nearby and Mount Edgcumbe, Britain’s first country park, occupying a vast part of the peninsula with seaside and superb estate walks with the UK's foremost rhododendron collection.

Mount Edgcumbe House, perched on a hill with views across to Plymouth, has formal gardens, a deer park, and some of the finest coastal and woodland walks you could wish for.

Just a mile or so along the coast, and with a regular small-ferry service to Plymouth, you’ll find Kingsand and Cawsand, former fishing villages once haunted by smugglers but now beloved of tourists who enjoy the ancient pubs and restaurants.

You can indulge in many kinds of water sports from Kingsand or Cawsand, or simply close your eyes and imagine it’s 300 years ago.

CAWSAND — 3 MILES
RAME HEAD — 3 MILES

To the South

There is nothing but sea between you and Roscoff in France, way out of sight, apart from miles of beautiful beaches below and the ruined chapel perched on the headland at Rame Head.

Whatever the charms to the North, East and West of Whitsand Bay Fort, the views to the South are what attracts most visitors and persuades most people to invest in a luxury lodge. Your dog will love it too. If you or your loved ones are serious divers, you’ll be looking out over the hidden wreck of the deliberately-scuttled HMS Scylla, sent to the bottom to form an artificial reef for divers.

Who knows what else you might find down there?

To the West

Crafthole, a nearby village, is the epitome of quaintness with splendid views to the sea, while the historic Finnygook Inn is a pleasant place to while away an evening.

Love golf? Then you’ll be delighted to know that Whitsand Bay Golf Club is just a little way along the bay from your luxury lodge. Established almost 120 years ago, it’s an 18hole, 6,015yard, par70 course dramatic setting on the cliff.

‍Look West from Whitsand Bay Fort and you’ll find Portwrinkle, Looe, Seaton, Downderry, Talland and nameless coves and inlets, all very Enid Blyton and all very romantic.
